Today we gathered to unveil the Central Basin Target Zero Seat Belt Convincer. You will see this incredible educational tool at community events throughout our region and the state. Our hope is that you will try it out for yourself when you have the opportunity! This purchase was made possible by a very generous grant from State Farm. Thank you to Kim Janke- State Farm Agent and Cory Pickeral (State Farm/Ephrata) for presenting our grant check and testing out the Seat Belt Convincer! They were both #Convinced! Also in attendance, Soap Lake Police Department Chief Cox and Officer Peek, Grant County Sheriff’s Office – Tom Jones, Sheriff Motor Traffic Deputy Judkins, Grant County Commissioner Danny Stone, and Washington State Patrol Trooper Bryant.
The Seat Belt Convincer simulates the force you would experience in a 5-10 mph crash, and just how important your seatbelt is for your safety! Though Washington statewide seatbelt use is at 94%, unrestrained vehicle occupant are Grant County’s top behavioral factor in serious injury/fatal crashes.
